Sweet & Spicy Strawberry Salsa

Yes, I’m still on the salsa kick and what better way to get yourself some important nutrients than with healthy and delicious snacks like sweet and spicy strawberry salsa!

Sweet & Spicy Strawberry Salsa | Simply Fresh Dinners

This quick and easy snack is so full of flavor that I had a hard time photographing it because I just wanted to gobble it up after one bite.  It demonstrates so well that fresh and simple is always super tasty.  When you have prime ingredients you don’t need much to enhance the natural essence – especially something special like fresh, local strawberries.

Strawberries, jalapeno, red onion, cilantro and lime – that’s it.  All complementary yet distinct flavors.  That’s why we love salsa, isn’t it?  Each bite is so full of zest and gusto.   I think there is no end to the types of salsas you can make but I will stop here for a little while.  Or at least until something comes along that begs to be made into another dish that packs a wallop!

After I made this recipe, I looked around the internet I saw this dish with the same ingredients at my friend, Sue’s blog.  I knew there was a reason I loved The View from Great Island.  I have been following her work for years and it seems to be rubbing off on me!  Her latest creation,  Wild Caught Tuna Crostinis, are going to blow your mind!

Sweet & Spicy Strawberry Salsa | Simply Fresh Dinners

This weekend I’m headed out to the farms to get my hands on loads more fresh strawberries at Nicholyn Farms and Barrie Hill Farm.  What do you like to do with your strawberries?  I have a hard time not gobbling them up on the way home but this year I want to create some fun and unique ways to enhance these delectable treats.  Have a recipe you’d like to share?  Ever made strawberry salsa? Email me or hashtag me with a photo on Instagram.   I’d love to hear about what inspires you.  Cheers!

    Good morning, Robyn!

I want the tangy sweetness of summer to stay forever. The ephemeral nature of summer has taught me to savor the flavors with more meticulous attention, to ask myself at the end of the day, “What did I learn today and what did I accomplish.” Now I think I know the reason why things come in and out of season. Enjoy all you can! LOVE!

    Hello my friend!
Well, those who have the enjoyment of fresh, right from the field strawberries, such as yourself would certainly make this! You lucky girl!!
We were in Ontario the first part of June and oh how I was hoping there would be fresh strawberries, but I knew that wasn’t going to happen. We were there just a little too early.
I remember when I first picked strawberries from the fields of Ontario we could eat as we picked, Robyn it was pure delight. 🙂
I will definitely be making this, and those scoops you used are the best for salsa.

It’s so good to come for a visit, I’ve missed you.
    Have a great weekend~

Debbie! You were here! Unfortunately, the strawberry season was late this year so you just missed it. I’ve missed you too and been wondering about you! I saw your gorgeous post briefly last night and will be back soon to enjoy it when I have some time to myself, lol.
Can’t wait to catch up with you. So glad you enjoyed your time in Canada!!

Oh, I bet it’s fabulous on flounder, Karen. Most any white fish really. I’m thinking about combining it with shrimp somehow as well. Can’t wait to check out your salad!

    HI Robyn,
Sounds perfect for the hot summertime heat. I love anything with fresh strawberries. In our area the fresh strawberries are over with for the year. Thanks for sharing on Real Food Fridays. Pinned & Tweeted.
