Good morning, everyone. It looks like summer is officially here and with that, we’ve got strawberries ready to be picked! It’s a big deal around here because the berries are so delicious and finding new ways to cook them is so much fun.
Yesterday I posted a Balsamic Chicken with Strawberries, Basil and Feta Cheese and it’s gone off the charts and has become the most popular recipe I’ve ever posted. I think people like it because it’s super simple yet so tasty. I love cooking proteins with fruit in the summer months. If you do the same, share your recipe and I’ll be happy to cook it or share your pictures!
Let’s get started with some links to some fabulous strawberry recipes. In this part of the world, we only get them for a short time so let’s find the best ways to use them.
… and this beauty just posted this morning from Bobbi at Bam’s Kitchen – WOW!
You’re definitely going to want to read this article from Food52 about How To Keep Your Berries Fresh Longer if you’re out picking your own these days or if you’re buying them already picked, this will save you some dollars.
And one more article on saving money from Tip Hero. They’ve got a list of 17 Healthy Food For Under $1. This is worth a read and a bookmark. Don’t you find that in our busy lives it’s so tempting to go for the fast food, the easy junk food when we’re short of time. Keep these healthy foods in mind and it’ll make things a little easier.
Are you the one who tends to the grill in your house or do you leave that job to your partner? Most women I know are a little afraid of the BBQ. (except my friend, Linda, who is fearless!) I was a little nervous until a few years ago when I decided I needed to conquer that monster. Here’s a great list of The Most Common Grilling Mistakes – and How To Avoid Them. Very helpful! Have you mastered the grill yet?
I’m a sucker for a beautiful farmhouse sink – what about you? I love the size, the depth and the character that it adds to a kitchen. Here are 3 of my favourite from AD. Click on the pics or text to take you to the slideshow.
And it seems that some people are downsizing these days with their homes but this is a little over the top. Ok…a LOT over the top! What do you think? Could you live in a space this small? It’s so dreamy that I think I could find a way to make it work….
This home was designed to be transportable and eco-friendly.
It’s intended to connect its inhabitant with nature while maintaining a small carbon footprint. Click here to see more Tiny Dream Homes.
And we go from tiny to translucent. Could you live in this house? I am fascinated with homes with lots of glass but this might be too much. This house is perched on a cliffside with tons and tons of green space around it. It seems like perfection.
This dad really knows how to play with his kids. Too funny!
With Summer finally here, you’ll want to check in again on my favorite online magazine for Families. This will give you loads of ideas for outdoor activities to keep you and your family fit as well as ideas for travel and how to create lasting memories for your children.
Congratulations to my friend, Jennifer and her talented crew on their 6 month anniversary. Love it and wishing you much continued success!
And to send you on your way with a smile (or you can hang around too if you want to!), here’s some pics that made me chuckle. The title of the article is Just Some Bears Thinking About Life. Click the link or any of the pics for more hilarity. Cheers!
“I wonder if I should eat some berries or go scare those people hiking in the woods. Decisions, Decisions!”
“Hmmm….should I grill fish or tree grubs tonight?”
“Whatcha cooking tonight? I’m really REALLY hungry!”
“Oh man, look at those Park Rangers run. Cracks me up every time!”
